Job Purpose

To implement the IMS policies and procedures of Enova across all solar project sites, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, energy, and quality standards, while also overseeing the technical execution of solar plant construction, installation, testing, and commissioning. To provide technical PV Solar expertise as required to evaluate, participate in Solar opportunities and manage ongoing projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure designs are constructible, safe, and execution-friendly
  • Coordinate between engineering, procurement, and construction teams
  • Resolve site-driven technical issues (layout clashes, foundation changes, cable routing, inverter placement)
  • Support site teams during construction, installation, and commissioning
  • Contribute to the development of the departmental strategy and ensure effective cascading of departmental strategy into section’s policies and procedures in line with the overall business objectives of the Technical & Sustainable Development department
  • Contribute to Business Development by PV Solar Feasibility studies, scoping, resourcing and contracts screening for successful submission to ensure business growth
  • Oversee engineering deliverables and milestones aligned with project schedules
  • Identify engineering-related delays and implement recovery plans
  • Ensure timely release of IFC drawings and material take-offs (MTOs)
  • Manage the effective implementation of objectives through setting individual objectives, developing and motivating staff.
  • subcontractor, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal in order to maximize subordinate and the overall performance and to ensure that departmental objectives are met such as higher participation in opportunities, higher revenue generation, effective completion of projects, cost savings, safety and environmental quality
  • Drive value engineering without compromising performance or safety
  • Optimize: Module layout and string configuration, inverter sizing and placement, cable sizing and routing, foundation and mounting structures/carparks
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and claims substation
  • Prepare the budget for the respective project and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs / revenues, and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are realized
  • Lead technical evaluation of vendors (modules, inverters, transformers, MMS, SCADA)
  • Approve datasheets, drawings, FAT/SAT procedures
  • Manage technical risks related to long lead items
  • Support factory inspections and vendor clarifications
  • Oversee commissioning strategy and energization sequence
  • Ensure system performance meets PR, availability, and contractual guarantees
  • Support performance testing, grid synchronization, and PAC/FAC
  • Lead root cause analysis for performance issues
  • Ensure first day site inductions and refresher are provided to all employees on-site.
  • Keep aware of the IMS related policies, procedures, standards, checklists and guidelines, customers’ requirements and guidelines and ensure creating of awareness on these standards, across the Company, thus improving compliance
  • Knowledge of BESS (Battery Energy Storage System)
  • Conduct and supervise electrical testing of solar PV plant
  • Review IFC (Issued for Construction) and As-Built drawings, electrical SLDs, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare Testing & Commissioning Method Statements, checklists, and test plans.
  • Verify mechanical completion and perform pre-functional checks
  • Assist in the provision of training and awareness on the IMS policies, procedures and guidelines and preparation of the relevant training material, to ensure creation of awareness on the related standards
  • Executing effective implementation/running of the solar projects to achieve committed energy savings.
  • Review detailed schedules of work, feasibility studies and cost estimates, in addition to benchmarking Solar energy production against best practice guidelines, to ensure the best operational solutions are provided for Enova clients.
  • Establish and maintain good relations with suppliers in order to serve the best interests of the organization and support in the negotiations and cost optimization while ensuring quality standards are met. Participate int the co-ordination between Enova customers and the team members, and execute customers· expectations through clear communication and transparent work attitude, in order to ensure satisfactory completion of work
  • Develop a pro-active working relationship with all authorities and assist in establishing areas for service improvement, in addition to representing the company at regular meetings with the client and other authorities
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Identify obsolete procedures, process, and format on site, communicate to Head office and support on continuously improving IMS documentation system.
  • Ensure all records are properly recorded on site and available upon demand during internal and external audits / inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate sectional statements and reports to meet and department requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Prepare regular reports on non-compliances, risk and impact assessments, audits and breaches and submit it to the line manager to enable suitable actions to be taken
  • Provide Root cause on Non-compliance, near miss, unsafe act, or conditions as necessary as per the project requirement to ensure non reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all relevant quality, health, safety, environmental, Energy, Asset Management, Facility Management & Data Management procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
  • Activities may require night duty as per the requirements of the project.
  • Activities may require travel to multiple locations across the country as per requirement of his / her scope.

Qualifications, Experiences, & Skills

  • Bachelors/master’s degree in energy related engineering or equivalent qualifications; DEWA certification, ADQCC/AADC/ADDC Approval, hands-on experience in min 5 MWp PV Solar implementation in total.
  • 6-10 years of experience out of which minimum 3 years’ experience in UAE.
  • Proven ability to effectively execute/manage PV Solar projects with significant commercial awareness; experience in liaising with consultants and contractors; knowledge of resource planning. knowledge of design understanding of PV Solar projects.
