Legal Requirement:
Ensures compliance with all Legal & Regulatory requirements related to his areas, in co-ordination with his Head of Department.
EnMS and EHS:
- Understands the Energy Management System (EnMS 50001), Environmental, Health & Safety Management System (ISO 14001& ISO 45001) requirements and objectives related to his area.
- Implements, maintains and improves Energy Management System (EnMS 50001) and Environmental, Health & Safety Management System (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) in his area by following a systematic approach to ensure continual improvement of EnMS & EHS performance.
Supervision:
- Supervises, directs and coordinates the activities of personnel assigned to EHS Division to ensure smooth and efficient performance. Perform supervisory functions and exercises authority at Division Head level as established by management.
Training:
- Identifies training requirements and develops training presentations and materials as needed, maintains detailed calendar of training schedules.
- Evaluates the pre and post training results and compare the results and identify problems and the areas that need further attention.
- Identifies weather trainings can be given by Internal or External; Coordinate with HRD/Training Division if the training shall be given by external.
- Plans, develops, and implements training and employee development programs related to Environment, Health, and Safety programs in coordination with HRD and Departments.
- Arranges EHS induction / orientation to new employees, contractors, visitors, etc. prior to entering the plant facilities.
- Develops, coordinates, schedules, and evaluates in-house and external training to inculcate EHS awareness programs and EHS Management systems audits in coordination with MR and HRD.
- Prepares and circulates EHS toolbox talk topics fortnightly to plant staff, including monitoring TBT attendance and effectiveness monthly report.
- Inculcates EHS consciousness among employees including Engineers, Supervisors, Superintendents and Managers by providing appropriate EHS refresher training for individual departments and their employees.
- Recommends, as and when required, external trainings to their staff to understand current international EHS standards.
EHS Management Systems:
- Monitors the changes in regulations; implements policy and procedural changes after approval; ensures compliance with applicable Government rules, regulations, and ordinances.
- Coordinates with MR for EHS Management system in arranging schedule for internal and external audits and compliance reports till closure.
- Maintain all EHS Management system documents and prepare newly required / proposed all levels of EHS documents.
- Ensures all relevant documents are conforming to ISO Standards and other National and International Standards.
- Updates the documents and records as and when necessary for policies, procedures, and other written materials.
- Prepares schedules and presentations for EHS related core committee meetings and Management Review Meetings. After completion of meetings, prepares and circulates Minutes of meetings. Monitors the implementation status of action plan of such meetings.
- Arranges distribution of the controlled copies as per distribution list and ensures to obtain acknowledgement from all recipients; retrieves and destroys the obsolete copies before issuing a new updated/revised edition. Distributes additional controlled copies other than those on the distribution list as per directives of SHM and keeps record.
Contractor’s Management:
- Establishes policies with the best practice standards and legislations to minimize the risk associated with contractor’s undertakings to industry standards.
- Ensures that all works undertaken by contractors or on their behalf are carried out in compliance with established policies, in such a manner to avoid, reduce or control all foreseeable risk to environment, health & safety to an acceptable level.
- Provides EHS induction training to contract employees with suitable & sufficient information and instructions regarding the hazards that exist in the area in which they will be working.
