Job Purpose

The QC Electrical Engineer will oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of all electrical works related to high-voltage substations and/or overhead transmission lines. The role includes detailed inspections, technical reviews, and coordination with project teams to maintain strict adherence to quality standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspections and quality checks on electrical installations and materials for HV/MV substations and overhead transmission lines.
• Review and validate material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and shop drawings specific to substation/OHTL projects.
• Ensure all electrical works comply with applicable international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC) and utility/client requirements (e.g., SEC, DEWA, etc.).
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to QA/QC plans and project specifications.
• Identify, report, and track non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure effective corrective/preventive actions.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, test results, and documentation for handover packages.
• Supervise FAT/SAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning inspections for substation equipment such as switchgear, transformers, GIS, CTs, VTs, and protection systems.
• Coordinate with site engineers, consultants, and client representatives for inspections and approvals.
• Support audits and quality reviews, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality management systems.
• Promote best practices in safety and quality on-site, and provide training or guidance where needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 5–10 years of QC experience in electrical engineering, with direct involvement in substation or overhead transmission line projects.
• Proven knowledge of substation components, HV/MV equipment, control and protection systems, and OHTL installation practices.
• Familiarity with utility standards (such as SEC, DEWA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection tools, and documentation.
• Certification in ISO 9001 or equivalent QA/QC credentials is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant quality management systems.
• Strong technical reporting, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site priorities.
