Role Summary
The incumbent will be supporting Company’s business development opportunities under the supervision and in close cooperation with the Business Development Director. His/her primary task will be to identify and analyze global, regional and local business opportunities (including competitive tenders), market trends, and regional / international developments and manage the implementation of these opportunities in terms of negotiating and closing transactions.
The Business developer is responsible for originating new infrastructure projects and driving their development from MOU/JDA through to financial close.
Decision Rights & Authority
- Contribute to project and bid strategy, economics, and risk analysis for internal review and approval.
- Coordinate assigned workstreams within cross-functional teams.
- Support commercial and contractual negotiations alongside senior team members.
- Interface with authorities, partners, suppliers, and advisors under senior guidance.
- Participate in site visits, counterpart meetings, and due diligence activities.
- Escalate risks, issues, and deviations to the Business Development Director or designated Project Lead.
Key Responsibilities
1) Origination & Market Development
- Identify and screen potential greenfield and brownfield opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity.
- Support evaluation of entry routes, sites, counterparties, and partnership concepts.
- Prepare market and opportunity assessment notes for internal review.
2) Feasibility & Opportunity Evaluation
- Support early-stage technical, commercial, and financial feasibility assessments.
- Assist with land, grid, permitting, environmental, and stakeholder screenings.
- Develop preliminary financial models, tariffs, LCOE, IRR, and sensitivity analyses.
- Contribute to preparation of project charters and internal approval documentation
3) Partner, Technology & Supply Chain Sourcing
- Support identification and evaluation of EPCs, OEMs, O&M contractors, advisors, and partners.
- Assist in assessment of technology options and delivery models.
- Support RFIs/RFPs by coordinating inputs and analyzing pricing, warranties, guarantees, LDs, and schedules.
4) Bid Management & Preparation
- Support RFI/RFQ/RFP processes in coordination with the bid lead.
- Collect, organize, and distribute tender documentation internally and to partners.
- Coordinate technical, financial, legal, and commercial inputs.
- Assist in preparation and submission of compliant technical and financial bids.
- Support clarification responses, Q&A, and BAFO preparation.
5) Commercial Structuring & Negotiation
- Support commercial analysis, pricing models, and risk assessments.
- Assist senior team members in negotiations with authorities, offtakers, partners, and contractors.
- Maintain clear documentation of assumptions, analyses, and decisions.
6) Financing Support
- Provide financial models, data, and assumptions to Corporate and Project Finance teams.
- Support lender and DFI due diligence processes as required.
7) Deal Closing & Handover
- Support preparation of contract documentation and closing deliverables.
- Assist with preparation of handover materials to deliver or asset teams.
8) Governance & Team Leadership
- Work within established governance, stage-gates, and approval processes.
- Ensure document control, version management, and compliance with internal standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet development and bid timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- 3–6 years of experience for Business Developer or 5–8 years for Senior Business Developer within IPP/IWP/PPP, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience supporting competitive tenders and project development activities.
- Working knowledge of project finance, contracts, and risk allocation.
- Exposure to authorities, offtakers, EPCs, OEMs, O&M providers, and advisors.
- Strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Experience in GCC, MENA, or European markets is considered an advantage.
- Effective coordination and stakeholder communication skills.
