About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Operation & Efficiency to join our Engineering team and drive operational excellence across our Shuaibah Cluster — from thermal power and SWRO desalination plants to solar PV operations.
This role plays a key part in advancing fleet reliability, efficiency, and cost performance, positioning our assets within the top global quartile. You’ll monitor performance across multiple technologies, lead efficiency initiatives, and collaborate with site teams to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Oversee performance and efficiency monitoring across thermal, SWRO, and PV plants.
- Conduct periodic heat rate, condenser, and equipment testing to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Track and analyze availability, forced outages, and generation losses, developing corrective actions where needed.
- Lead fuel reconciliation, auxiliary power consumption, and heat loss accounting.
- Present business cases and performance improvement plans to management.
Multi-Technology Operations
- Support cluster-level operational performance, ensuring consistency across technologies.
- Evaluate process improvements, operational regime changes, and technology upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Risk & RCA Management
- Maintain and manage Technical Risk Registers (TRR), identifying potential risks and mitigation measures.
- Oversee Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for operational events and ensure recommendations are effectively implemented.
Safety, Compliance & Billing
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, including safety-critical equipment monitoring.
- Support accurate monthly billing and performance reporting to off-takers and internal stakeholders.
Leadership & Reporting
- Mentor plant engineers on performance monitoring practices and data analysis.
- Prepare and deliver clear, data-driven reports and presentations for senior management.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and digitization across the fleet.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering (or related field).
- 7–10 years of experience in operations or performance monitoring in thermal power plants (10–12 years preferred).
- Exposure to SWRO desalination and solar PV plant performance monitoring is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to define, track, and improve KPIs across multi-technology assets.
- Strong understanding of power plant systems, thermodynamics, and efficiency modeling.
- Experience with technical risk management, RCA, and billing systems.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
