About the job

Summary

NEOM is a new vision of what the future could be. It’s an attempt to do something that’s never been done before and it’s coming at a time when the world needs fresh thinking and new solutions. Put simply, NEOM will not only be a destination, but a home for people who dream big and who want to be part of building a new model for sustainable living.

ENOWA, NEOM’s energy and water company, is tasked with the mission of developing a 100% renewable energy system. ENOWA aims to partner with nature to harness the power of wind, solar, and water in full circularity to meet this ambition. Energy flexibility solutions as carbon accounting and offset projects will be a key enabler to ensure ENOWA’s objectives are met.

The ENOWA Flexibility team is tasked with planning, optimizing, and executing a portfolio strategy to unlock system flexibility across 4 pillars (Demand Side Flexibility, Pumped Hydro Storage (PHS), novel Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES), and Li-Ion Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS))

Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) is a critical element of ENOWA’ strategy that includes novel electrochemical storage (ECES), mechanical storage (MES) and thermal energy storage (TES). The LDES Pilot Program has been established for researching, performance assessing, testing, and demonstrating innovative technologies with a strong focus on research, innovation, localization, and startup creation.

We are seeking an experienced, result-driven project developer and operator, who will drive the development and execution of MWh-scale LDES Pilot projects as part of the LDES Innovation team. You will oversee assets development throughout the lifecycle from feasibility into planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, to commissioning, energization, testing and handover of these assets, ensuring the LDES Innovation Program vision is carried out with premium quality standards and that deliverables meet the industrial partners’ requirements, adhere to building codes and safety regulation, and are completed within budget and on schedule. Your role will involve managing and coordinating multiple LDES pilot projects simultaneously and working closely with other professionals, such as LDES experts and researchers, technology providers, industrial partners, consultants, EPCs, contractors, among others. The role will need a pioneering spirit, team orientation, strong work ethics and the ability to thrive at NEOM as part of a unique project to develop a world-class energy storage R&D platform.
