Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Development Manager to join our
team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in solar energy,
combined with commercial acumen, sales capability, excellent organization skills, and a
collaborative mindset to drive business growth and expand our presence in the market.
The Project Development Manager is a critical project development, execution, and
oversight role at AEPCo. The person is responsible for identifying new projects,
cultivating client relationships, create commercial proposals and financial models and
originate new projects pipeline, close new project contracts, oversee all commercial and
business aspects of the project, supervise project execution and operation. The project
manager would lead AEPCo’s project and business development activities in current
and emerging markets for AEPCo and must have good knowledge of the local
regulations in these markets and how business models can be created to cultivate such
markets.
Responsibilities:
Solar project development cycle in both C&I as well as Utility sectors.
Procuring new clients through direct contact, word-of-mouth, and business
network.
Attending networking activities to research and connect with prospective clients.
Maintaining meaningful relationships with existing clients to ensure that they are
retained.
Crafting business proposals and contracts as required by the project.
Negotiating and closing with clients to secure the most attractive prices and
terms.
Reviewing clients' feedback and implementing necessary changes.
Close new project pipeline contracts to meet targets for the year in terms of new
projects.
Develop project cost estimates & assist in obtaining pricing from contractors &
vendors.
Analyze utility rate structures and consumption/demand histories for clients.
Working with country manager, supporting asset management for operational
projects.
Develop financial models for new projects in coordination with project finance
team.
Develop bidding documents required for final project costing. Assist operations
in obtaining contractor and vendor pricing.
Develop preliminary and final project cost estimates.
Responsible for securing finance for new projects through equity and debt and
managing banking relationships.
Manage all contractual and business aspects for new and existing projects.
Prepare and manage RFPs and tenders as required.
Manage market expansion for AEPCo in MENA as required in coordination with
CDO.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including clients,
investors, government agencies, and industry partners.
Experience:
3 to 5 years of project management experience, with associated expertise in
electrical, power/substation/utility interconnect and related disciplines.
Must have field experience in design and construction of solar power plants.
Experience coordinating project team and managing various aspects of
transactions from project kick-off through closing, and actively maintaining
involvement in the transaction during the post-closing period.
Proven track record of 5+ years in business development or sales roles within the
renewable energy industry, with a focus on solar PV projects.
Requirements:
B.S Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or similar.
Experience in Project Management.
Extensive commercial and contracts experience.
Intuitive and insightful, particularly regarding human behavior.
Professional yet affable disposition.
Neat, well-groomed appearance.
Strong team working skills.
Great networking skills.
Strong technical understanding of solar energy systems, project development
processes, and grid integration requirements.
Demonstrated ability to identify and capture business opportunities, negotiate
contracts, and drive revenue growth.

build and maintain relationships at all levels.
Strategic thinker with analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
