Your role and responsibilities

Leading integration of sustainability into business strategy for the region and LSU’s (Local sales units) by setting priorities, initiatives, and resources, in alignment with ABB sustainability strategy and global motion sustainability function, applying in-depth sustainability knowledge to coach and advice business leaders (Regional Management Team & Country Motion Managers)

Following local sustainability trends and flag / advice on any actions required, building, and maintaining the sustainability function within the region and LSUs, based on the needs of the local markets and in line with the broader motion sustainability governance setup, leading the regional sustainability agenda in alignment with the countries, collaborating with other Business Areas within the region as needed.

Reviewing and further refining existing sustainability KPIs, adapting the KPI set for the region and setting targets, accordingly, ensuring targets and KPIs are clear and broken down to relevant business levels (Region, Country, Local division, Site) and followed up on regular basis, reporting on performance towards regional management team & country motion managers.

Working closely with local motion managers to identify, defining, and following up the business sustainability plans and supporting the implementation in markets / countries where we operate, working closely with the right stakeholders locally, regionally and on global level to drive our sustainability agenda at all levels.

Driving behavioral change to continuously improve sustainability culture and facilitating the sharing of best practices both internally among countries, and externally with peers, customers, and competitors, maintaining and further developing sustainability related competency through continued professional development opportunities.

Engaging external and internal stakeholders (regulators, industry associations, universities, local communities, etc.) to raise awareness, gain commitment on regional sustainability efforts and position motion in local markets on sustainability, identifying in collaboration with other functions potential sustainability partnerships and business opportunities.

String engagement with key customers and their right stakeholders on sustainability to outside-in view on how we need to strategically act to drive our suitability agenda in line with market and customer expectations.

Qualifications For The Role

  • Bachelor’s degree – Electrical Engineering/Automation
  • 10+ years of proven relevant experience, experience on sustainability-related topics (Energy Efficiency, decarbonization, green initiatives etc) is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory, and Arabic is an advantage.
