Job Title: Sustainability Specialist
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
SUMMARY: Responsible for implementing and overseeing sustainability initiatives. Conduct environmental assessment and ensure sustainable practices are applied across all sites. Analyze behaviors and provide options to reduce the environmental impact of the DCs operations.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies and initiatives, aligning them with the client’s goals and objectives
- Provide guidance and support to Operations team to integrate sustainability practices into their daily operations
- Conduct thorough environmental assessments and audits within the DCs
- Explain new initiatives directly to operations staff and the reasons behind them
- Oversee the implementation of new policies to ensure that staff carry out the plans correctly
- Monitor and analyze energy, water, waste, and carbon emissions data to track the environmental performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement sustainable solutions in areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, and supply chain optimization
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and new technologies related to sustainability
- Conduct sustainability training and awareness programs for operations team to promote a culture of sustainability
- Collect, analyze, and report on sustainability metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and standards such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), ISO 14001.
- Knowledge of environmental assessment and auditing methodologies
- Understanding of carbon footprint calculations and GHG Protocol
- Knowledge of energy codes such as ASHRAE 90.1 & 90.4
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, energy management systems, and zero-waste management practices
- Professional certifications such as LEED Green Associate, Certified Sustainability Professional (CSP), TRUE Advisor, LEED AP O+M is a plus…etc
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook.
EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a minimum of 5 years experience
- Proven +2 years work experience in sustainability and environmental management
- Experience in energy auditing methodologies, and implementation of Energy Conservation Measures for existing buildings
- Experience in implementation of sustainability initiatives
- Proven knowledge in Environmental Life-cycle assessment and hands-on experience in relevant software’s
- Hands-on experience in energy modeling and/or environmental software’s is a plus.
