The business operates power generation assets in seven countries and when combined with its stake in Masdar this rises to more than 25 countries. In the water business, the company is the largest producer of desalinated water in the United Arab Emirates.

We are looking to hire a Lead Engineer – Power Plant to manage the effective implementation of engineering and technical solutions for the development of assets including bid submission, M&A for Power and Water, to achieve growth and target profitability, delivering tailor-made technical solutions, conducting technical assessments, ensuring compliance with project agreements, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and staying updated on industry best practices, while ensuring delivery of outcomes within defined quality, safety, performance, and cost parameters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage implementation of engineering and technical solutions for assets in the development phase and execute performance optimization initiatives, by coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Offer technical assistance for troubleshooting plant operating issues and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives, in response to requests from internal and external stakeholders, to support the smooth operations of the assets, optimize technical solutions and extend the life of components for enhanced performance.
  • Assist in preparation and documentation of budget plans for the project and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) company, considering all technical aspects for the entire lifecycle of the project, including the bid phase.
  • Gather relevant data and compile necessary documents (including technical schedules of EPC / O&M, LTSA, Term sheet and Contracts and other Project related agreements) to prepare technical proposals for bid and Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) activities and conduct effective technical due diligence.
  • Assist in conducting technical assessment of contract requirements throughout the entire process. Perform configuration analysis, basic design, resource estimation, production estimates, availability modeling, degradation analysis, and project scheduling and all project related studies such as geotechnical, topographical, re-circulation and technical consultancy services appointment by leveraging relevant software such as Thermoflow, Ebsilion etc.
  • Provide support in planning for contractual agreements and negotiations, by conducting a thorough technical review of the proposals. Assist in LTSA negotiations and renegotiations, addressing requests from operating assets to ensure favorable outcomes for Generation business unit.
  • Ensure compliance with project agreements including, power/ steam purchase, administration, lending or credit management, operations and maintenance, fuel management and partnership agreements.
  • Ensure seamless handover of technical details and documents to the project delivery team and to the operations and maintenance team for smooth transition. Provide necessary technical support to TAQA operations and maintenance team to set up new assets under development.
  • Assist in maintaining strong working relationships with EPC Contractors, OEMs, Technical Consultants, local companies, and suppliers, expanding service offerings and opportunities for both new development and existing assets.
  • Support in sharing relevant information with other functions within the business unit to evaluate, define and secure the optimum market position and prices including analysis of alternative tariff, different pricing arrangements, product, and feedstock market assessments.
  • Coordinate with finance business partners and other business partners such as Human Capital, Legal and Supply Chain to achieve strategic KPIs on commercial and revenue management.
  • Stay updated on technologies such as gas turbines and RO desalination and industry best practices on sustainability and neutrality requirements, actively supporting in the establishment, review, and enhancement of assets with cutting-edge technical solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience within power and water plants or similar role and strong EPC negotiations skills
